"Lord, teach us to give and not to count the costs." Should we take seriously these words of St. Ignatius of Loyola? Inspired by his teaching, and the personal example of KEPHA's own Mother Teresa of Calcutta, our Constitution mandates that a KEPHA boy must first give to charity half of all money he raises to attend retreats. This requirement causes joy, not complaint, in the boys in purple.
To attend our Rome retreat this past year, each boy had three years to raise $5400. Half of this funded his trip; the other half he donated to charity. Some have argued that KEPHA would find it easier to accomplish its goals if we didn't give so much to charity. Nonsense! We believe that God has richly blessed our Brotherhood and filled our boys with a spirit of generosity because we have stubbornly refused to give by counting the costs.
The life of Christ burns brighter where charity is the foundation of faith. One thinks of the remarkable sanctity in the poor woman of Calcutta who took Mother Teresa's gift of food and divided it in half because her neighbor was equally in need. If the poor can be so generous, KEPHA can do no less. This year, as the boys raise funds to attend their retreats, they have selected the charities listed below:
a. Kepha's charitable activities
b. Soup Kitchens
c. Kepha Father/Son Chastity retreat
d. Pro-Life Organizations
e. Physically and mentally challenged
All donations made through this page go directly towards growing the organization, putting on retreats in new areas and promoting the work of Kepha.
Please understand that the greatest contribution you can make, the only one we really ask of you, is the charity of praying for the boys, men, and families of KEPHA, the Brotherhood of the Iron Will.
